Replacing Worn Cane Feet
Every 6 Months.
Physical and occupational therapists give the same advice to every cane user: check your rubber tips regularly and replace them as they wear. It's not fussy maintenance — a worn, smooth tip loses its grip, and worn tips are one of the most common preventable causes of slips among cane users.
The usual guidance is to look at your tips about once a month and replace them roughly every six months of everyday use — or sooner if the tread has worn smooth, faded, or scuffed at the edges. A fresh set brings back the full, sure grip you had on day one.
Replaced in
Under a
Minute.
A simple job with a Phillips screwdriver — most people do it themselves, and if you'd rather not, a family member can do all four in a minute.
1. Unscrew — Loosen the single screw holding a worn foot.
2. Swap — Lift it off and press the new foot into place.
3. Tighten — Screw it back in, snug. Then repeat for the other three.
No glue, no trip to a repair shop. Do them one at a time so the others show you how the new one should sit.
